1995–1999
1995 — Manchester Metropolitan University
  • BA (Hons) 3-D Design, Interior Design.

1995–96 — Objectives Museum and Exhibition Design, London
  • Designer and project manager.
  • MOMI, the Henley River and Rowing Museum, two Science Box projects for the Science Museum.

2001–02 — Independent designer, Belfast
  • Estate agency website, architectural visualisation, branding, and feature design for a regional lifestyle magazine launched May 2002.
2002–06 — Navigator Blue, Belfast
  • Head of Digital Media.
  • Broadcast TV motion graphics for the Translink Safety and Irish News campaigns.

2006–12 — Ralph Appelbaum Associates, London
  • Lead Visualiser and Digital Media Coordinator for the UK office.
  • Led 3D concept previsualisation for the UK office and was the point of contact for hardware and interactive consultants.

Mike Griggs

Mike Griggs

I am a creative technologist with over three decades of experience of creating digital content and solutions for clients working in International Museum Master Planning and Design, Full Service Advertising and CGI, VFX and Motion Graphics for TV, Social and Live events.

Creative Bloke Ltd. was formed to realise my desire to make complicated things simple in a complex field, and it has enabled me to work with a wide range of International Corporations and Design agencies across the world.

What I do:

Creative Technologist. A brief is a brief whether it's for an article, the production of a brand logo, motion graphics for a live-streamed international event, or creating benchmarks for the latest generation of Pro Graphics Cards.

Art Director and CGI/Motion Graphics generalist. You want it, I have probably made it across TV, museum, online or event graphics. My core software is Maxon One Suite, with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere and Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve, but there isn't a piece of creative software I haven't noodled with.

Technical Writing. Currently, I write the 3D Basics column and the online course reviews for ImagineFX, and there is an extensive 3D World back catalogue on my CG industry writing page.

Creative Tools. This is relatively new for me (and most people, I know), but for over 4 years I have been deep diving into how I can make A.I. work for myself and my clients.

Thanks to this, I have never felt so enabled to create things that help me to do the rest of my work better. From creating my own bespoke Content Management System (that is powering this site) to a drawing tool that can drive arch-viz creation in Blender, After Effects Scripts, and GPU testing metrics tools. I love what I can achieve for myself and my clients in a more efficient and documentable way than ever before.

I'm based in Lewes, East Sussex and have easy access to London.
